Even if British Airways takes every precaution to handle your baggage with care, its liability for loss, delay, or damage is limited unless you declare a bigger value in advance and pay any applicable costs. Liability is not based on the bag's weight or value. The airline is not liable for luggage packed in inappropriate or broken containers, or for perishable, expensive, or fragile items. The loss of jewels, valuables, or cash in checked baggage is not British Airways' responsibility, per the Conditions of Carriage. It is highly recommended that passengers carry these goods in their hand baggage or on their person.
